Tonight, Jason will return to the team he brought from two 50 loss seasons to an NBA Finals contender.

He and the Mavs’ (14-10) will play in New Jersey (12-12) tonight, deserving the largest ovation for any player that played for the Nets organization. Team president Rod Thorn quoted by NorthJersey.com:

“That’s what I remember. No one competed harder than he competed, virtually every night. The guy did everything. He guarded, rebounded, scored when you needed it. He was a great player.”

Ex-teammate Vince Carter agreed wholeheartedly. The New York Times quoted Carter:

“He got triple-doubles like guys got double-doubles. We all have an appreciation for who he is, what he did and what he brought to the table each and every night for this franchise. He turned it around in a year.”

Jason adds that he did all he could in New Jersey as told to the Associated Press:

“I did everything I could. Played every night, I made my teammates better. There wasn’t anything else I could have done. If I was still here, I would still be playing hard.”
