Jason and the Mavericks wrapped their three-game road trip with a 99-97 loss to the Denver Nuggets, giving Dallas three consecutive losses while they were away from American Airlines Center.

No. 2 had two points, nine rebounds and seven assists in Dallas’ (22-16) two-point loss to the Nuggets, but summed up the Mavericks woes after their recent loss to Sacramento. Asked what he could do to help turn things around, his response was simple:

“Make a shot.”

Jason simplified it well, but still couldn’t drain more than one on Tuesday night. Dallas had reliable scoring from both Dirk Nowitzki with 44 points and Jason Terry with 16, but Jason knows without Josh Howard, he has to step up his offensive game. The Star-Telegram quoted Jason talking about Denver’s defense:

“They invite you to shoot the 3-ball. They like to see if you’ll fall in that trap. You just got to make sure you’re taking good shots.”

ADVICE
Amid his own trade talk rumors, Jason handed down advice to Brandon Bass whose name is being thrown around in trade rumors for the first time in his young career.

“You just have to concentrate on what you have right here and that’s a job. Everybody’s name circulates at some point in a career. You just have to realize it’s a business. When you play hard good things will happen. They just have to concentrate on what’s taking place right now.”

NEXT UP
The Mavs’ will face Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets tonight in Dallas. Tip is at 7:30pm.
