All of a sudden, playing on the road is a good thing for Jason and the Mavericks.

With the victory, the Mavs became the first team to sweep the Blazers and with their 3rd win in a row they moved within a half game of Denver for seventh place in the West.

A combination of efficient offense and great defense helped the Mavs seal the victory. Shooting 46.3% percent from the field, they held the Blazers to 41% from the field.

The Mavs also outrebouded them 45-40 and outscored them in the paint 32-30, which is a credit the to the toughness that the Mavs displayed all game against the Blazers.

The most impressive stat, though, was the fact that the Mavs had only 8 turnovers all night. This can be attributed to the strong handle of J.Kidd who again ran the Mavs offense like the master he is.

Jason only missed out on a triple-double by three points. He had a stat line of 7 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists as for the 54th time this season he led the Mavs in assists. J.Kidd talked with the Star-Telegram about how the Mavs are picking the right time to get in rhythm:

“This is not a bad time to start having fun. And having fun becomes contagious. This was a trip marked as make or break by all the experts. For us to get two wins back to back … we’re the only ones who believe and that’s all that matters.’’

NEXT UP
The Mavs look to continue their strong play on the road against the Golden State Warriors Friday at 9:30 pm CST.

Last time the Mavs played the Warriors was a 117-93 home victory where Jason had a team-high 9 assists. Hopefully the Mavs can repeat that performance as they continue to make their push for better playoff positioning.
