Jason Kidd got a late Christmas present Saturday night.

When J-Kidd sunk a three-pointer with two minutes left in the first quarter against the Grizzlies, he cruised to the seventh spot on the all-time three-pointer list, passing Tim Hardaway.

No. 2 has collected 1,543 three-pointers in his illustrious 16-year career. He trails Eddie Jones by just three triples.

The Mavericks defeated the Grizzlies 106-101.

REDEMPTION
When the Mavericks and the Nuggets last met, the Mavs left the court hanging their heads. Their playoff run was cut short.

But their heads were high last night as Jason and the Mavericks took down Northwest Division leading Nuggets, 104-96.

No. 2 told DallasBasketball.com how this win will affect his team come playoff time.

"Just in case (the regular-season standings) come down to a tiebreaker (with the Nuggets), you’d like to have that in your pocket."

J-Kidd dished out nine assists, scored seven points, pulled down five rebounds and sniped a steal in the win.

KIDD THE SOLDIER

Jason took a hard fall in last Tuesday’s loss against the Trailblazers. Although his teammates were concerned, they know how resilient the veteran is.

Teammate Shawn Marion echoed these sentiments to the Star-Telegram.

"J-Kidd is a soldier. It’ll take a lot for him to stop ticking."

No. 2 jokingly told the Star-Telegram about his bruises:

"I’m not sure if I’m playing basketball or football out there."

No. 2 proved his tumble meant nothing when he hit a double-double in Saturday night’s 106-101 win over the Grizzlies. J-Kidd racked up 10 points, dished out 10 assists, grabbed five rebounds and had three steals.

FROM DOWNTOWN
Six of Jason’s 10 points were from behind the arc. He has been one of the top 25 3-point shooters in the league ever since his rocky 1-10 start to the season, making him a contender for the 3-point shootout during the All-Star Game festivities.

No. 2 told the Star-Telegram it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

"To be able to do that would be great. But I don’t know if I can do it, though. That’s for shooters. I’m not a shooter."

He went on to say he would love to have the experience.

"It would be kind of a great story," Kidd said. "It would be kind of fun and a good experience. Then the only thing I wouldn’t have done is the dunk contest. I won’t be able to do that one."

NEXT UP
J-Kidd looks to move to No. 6 on the all-time 3-pointers list against the Houston Rockets New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m. on KTXA.
