Jason Kidd has always known it takes more than scoring to win a game.

Oftentimes, Jason will dish out more assists on a given night than points he’s scored. That was the case again on Saturday with the Mavericks in need of a victory after a setback loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jason dished out 11 assists without even scoring a point on Saturday night as the Mavericks cruised to a 111-90 blowout win against the Golden State Warriors. It was the 29th time this season J-Kidd has tallied more assists than points.

Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle told the Star Telegram that Jason isn’t focused on his own statistics, he’s focused on winning.

"(Kidd) doesn’t care about scoring, he only cares about winning. He’s a true professional, and he helps this team go. He directs traffic out there for this team to be successful," Carlisle said.

No. 2 also grabbed six boards, but rookie Roddy Beaubois stole the show with a career-high 40 points. His mentor Jason said Beaubois is one of the best rookies in the league, as he told Pegasus News.

"Hats off to Roddy for his game tonight," Kidd said. "He picked up a lot of slack for us. I wasn’t able to get a shot and I guess he found them. The main thing is that we got the win, so we are all happy about that. We may have to add another player to this rookie class, with Stephen Curry, Tyreke (Evans), Jennings, and now Roddy."

PLAYOFF BOUND
The Mavericks secured their spot in the post-season when the Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Milwaukee Bucks last night, though they haven’t been seeded yet.

The Mavericks head back to American Airlines Center tonight to host the Nuggets at 7:30 p.m. CST. Catch the game on KTXA.

Tonight’s game against the Nuggets will settle any tiebreaker between the two teams for playoff seeding purposes.
