When Jason Kidd was growing up as a Bay Area basketball prodigy, there was always another sport that enamored him: soccer.

So when Jason was recently given the chance to join the ownership group of one of the premier football clubs in the world, he jumped at the chance. Jason Kidd and Everton Football Club announced that Jason would be joining Roundhouse Capital Holdings, which took ownership of Everton a year ago.

Everton, a nine-time champion, recently secured its place in the English Premier League for another year and begins a new chapter next season when they open the brand new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium later this year.

“I’m honored to be joining Everton’s ownership at such an important moment,” Kidd said in Everton’s statement. “With a new stadium on the horizon and a bright future ahead, it’s a great moment to come on board.”

Jason’s experience at a championship level as both a player and a coach brings a special ingredient to the group, according to Everton Executive Chairman Marc Watts.

“As one of the NBA’s greatest players and now a successful coach, his knowledge and winning mentality will be an incredible resource for Everton,” Watts said. “He is a respected leader and household name for many sports fans and will bring a deeper understanding of high performance as we collectively strive to build a brighter future for this storied club.”
